Our latest real wedding has been kindly shared with us by award winning wedding photographers, Studio Rouge. As well as supplying us with stunning photos they caught up with this lovely couple to ask them a few questions, here's what they had to say!
What made you choose your wedding venue?
Wasing Park, Aldermaston, West Berkshire – We found this Romantic Barn Venue which offered everything for the day all in one location with the added benefit of onsite accommodation. Wasing Park is set in a gorgeous location, is very spacious yet private and exclusive and has some great open areas for outside live music. We just knew as soon as we looked around that it was the place we wanted to get Married…….and then we kept our fingers crossed for sunshine for the next 18 months!!
What style did you choose as a couple & why?
We are a very relaxed couple, and just wanted to ensure all our guests enjoyed the day as much as we did. We went with a gold and cream colour theme, trying to keep the palette as neutral and timeless as possible. We wanted to be able to add our own personal touches to the day to match the day to our personalities as much as possible. All of the décor that we used was either bought, collected or made by ourselves (with a little help from the families).
Tell us a bit about your wedding outfits, was it love at first sight with the dress?
Dress - Delphine Manivet – actually fell in love with it on Pinterest, after I realised I’d pinned the same dress about 3 times I had to try & find it. Luckily Brown’s Bridal in London stocked the dress so it was the first dress I tried on and although I was careful to try on quite a few others, they just didn’t compare.

What florals did you opt for?
We found an amazing Florist in Hungerford where Martin instantly understood completely the look we were after. The more natural, wild and ‘unstructured’ the better, whilst keeping a neutral colour palette – I really trusted Martin when it came to the bouquets so just let him have free reign and they certainly didn’t disappoint. They used their own home grown flowers including garden roses, dahlias, cosmos, Russian vine, sweet pea tendrils and finished them with silk ribbons.
Tell us about your wedding menu? Did you choose a particular style?
This was a tough decision after the tasting even as everything was so amazing, so we ended up choosing the food that we would most enjoy, with a few thrown to cater for the different tastes.

What was your wedding cake like?
After having a little taste session we couldn’t decide on just one flavour so went with 3 ...... Classic Victoria Sponge, Chocolate sponge with salted caramel buttercream & Prosecco sponge with vanilla buttercream. The Gold foil element came from us painfully making our wedding invitations using gold foil, which in the end looked great and we just wanted to carry that theme through. The flowers were then made taking into account the flowers that were going to be used by the Florist.
Tell us about your photographer...
We went to see them at their studio in Caversham and from the start they made us feel at ease with a relaxed and modern style which is exactly what we wanted. They were great on the day, taking all the requisite photos but really capturing the feel and atmosphere of the day. We’ve ended up with some absolutely stunning photos that will help us remember our day.
Do you have any words of wisdom you'd like to share with our readers?
Advice from the bride!
I imagine most Brides have their own ideas on how they imagine they Wedding Day to be, but remember your Wedding Day is about the two of you. It’s as equally special to both of you and it’s important to both have your ideas included in the day, that’s what helps make the day personal to you both. Also no one was kidding when they said it will be the quickest day of your life…..Just try and take as much time as you can with your new husband and take in what is going on around you.
Advice from the groom!
Remember that you wife has probably been planning this day a lot longer than you have, but that doesn’t mean you should step back and let her do all the hard work. Wedding planning is not all about the ideas (sure I was lucky as Lisa had some wonderful ideas), but it also includes the organisation, booking, correspondence, chasing, timings etc. The other corny piece of advice, which is said all too often, but is so true, enjoy every moment of the day and especially the moments you share with your wife as it’s the best day of your life and the memories will last a lifetime.
