What better way to brighten up this dreary February day than with a touch of the tropics! Super-stylish London wedding planner duo, Revelry Events have shared a recent wedding shoot of their's and we have to say it's a real stunner! It's clear to see why they were named London Wedding Planner of the Year by The Wedding Industry Awards, enjoy!
What inspired you to choose Havana as a theme for the shoot?
Not the sexiest of inspirations for such a super-sexy theme, but Cuba first came to mind for us when Obama (we miss him already) lifted the trade restrictions last year. We knew it was going to be the next hot destination for travellers, and that usually means wedding and decor inspiration isn’t far behind!
We wanted this shoot to capture the essence of Old Havana - music, dancing, cigars and mojitos against a backdrop of charming colonial architecture. Vibrant and flirty!
We used vintage, muted colours to reflect the 1950s time capsule that is Cuba, as well as tropical brights to enhance the fun, flirty vibe. On the tabletop we had a beautiful combination of the two - lush greens with faded peach florals and vibrant coral candles to create a dynamic, busy look.

Does social media help influence your photo shoot themes?
We might see set ups or colour schemes on Instagram or Pinterest that influence our shoot themes but we also try to show off styles and inspirations that are totally original and that our audience will be wowed by! Havana, for us, was something that we thought people might not have seen much of, but that we thought might take off in the next year!
Which themes do you think will be top trending this year?
Tropical is one of our absolute favourite looks to play with, especially when it’s paired with something you wouldn’t expect it to be. For our Havana shoot, everything was tropical, fun and flirty (it was a cold, rainy day in March on that rooftop but you would never know from the vibe!) - but with some of the real weddings we’re working on right now we’re working tropical elements into traditional English settings like a 16th century barn and a modern look in an East London warehouse!
Which suppliers featured in your shoot? How did you choose them?
Kensington Roof Gardens could not have been a more perfect spot to recreate Old Havana. The Spanish Garden has muted pastel backdrops, vine-covered walkways, brightly coloured benches, fountains and statues that just transport you to another time and place - you would never know you were in the middle of busy West London! And of course, the flamingos...
We worked with the amazing Mary Jane Vaughan team to create the table top and two bridal looks - we wanted a fun and flirty bouquet for the tulle skirt look, and a simplified palm arrangement for the slinky satin gown. The blooms they found were incredible and they really made the shoot.
We worked with Xander and Thea Photography for the images, as Alethiea’s fine art style lent itself to the vintage, romantic look we were after. InstaWedding also captured our shoot on film with their iconic vintage style.
Hair and makeup were by the incredible Patricia Soper and Mel Kinsman, who pulled off two very different looks for our bride.
The hand painted flamingo show stopper of a cake was by The Cake Parlour, and Jennifer’s Paper created some Hemingway-inspired, flamingo-adorned invitations to complete the look.
Options Hire and Table to Dine for brought the look together for the tabletop.
Our bride wore two looks - one Andrea Hawkes slinky satin number, and the other bridal separates from Watters.

Where on earth do you start when organising something so beautiful?
The shoot process usually starts with an idea, or a vision of a set up or colour combination. It could be a shop window or a magazine advert that sets the cogs whirring! We then start pulling together more inspiration from places like Pinterest and trying to get a clear vision for the shoot. For this shoot, it was when Cuba started coming back into the news but it wasn’t until we started researching and pinning that we found the ‘look’ of 1950s, tropical vintage. We always want to be doing something different, that we haven’t seen before and that we hope couples can take inspiration from!
What's your favourite part of organising a photoshoot like this?
That feeling when the supplier you have in mind for the shoot says yes! We continue to be blown away by the generosity and collaborative spirit we find in the people we work with - people who are excited by your ideas and think they are worth essentially working for free for. You have to be so confident in your idea to be able to get those amazing talents on board and make it happen, but it’s also a humbling experience! We have been so privileged to work with so many great suppliers and do some truly original things together!
